The box has a sectioned, velvet lined tray and lower well. Its lid is secured with a period lock. Octagonal Ball-Foot Boxes are available in (A) plum-pudding mahogany or satinwood, with ebony stringing and inlaid key escutcheon (shown), or tiger or birds-eye maple (left) with a simple inlaid mahogany escutcheon.
