Philadelphia, Circa 1775 This figured-mahogany chest-on-chest is inspired by the absolutely magnificent phoenix-topped chest made by Thomas Affleck that is currently in the Metropolitan Museum. Its powerful yet supremely elegant presence, impeccable detail, rich patina and color, and excellent proportions with a strong verticality make it one of Lorren L. Hammond's favorite antique chests.
