Circa 1800
This elegant, award-winning sewing table epitomizes the taste of Federal America. Its design is inspired by the work of Federal-era masters John and Thomas Seymour of Boston. The primary wood is birds-eye maple, both solid and in thick, sawn veneers. Hand-made ebony and holly "rope" inlay binds the edges of the drawers and carcass, while delicate stringing and cross-banding crown the top. |

Panels on the legs and the lock escutcheons are inlaid plum-pudding mahogany. Drawers are joined with our characteristic bold, crisp hand-cut dovetails, and have aromatic-cedar bottoms to protect fabrics in the sewing bag. The top drawer is sectioned to organize sewing or writing implements. The sewing bag is accessed by a frame that slides out to the side, with its own lock and inlaid escutcheon. Tasteful period castors tip the square, tapered legs and authentic lion's-head hardware cast from antique originals and period locks grace the drawers. Approx. 19 1/2" x 15" x 29 1/2" tall. $2,489.00 plus shipping and sales tax, if applicable. Sewing bag extra, in fabric of your choice. |
