Some manufacturers make "reproduction" furniture; their products are
generally driven by economy and expediency and, all too frequently, sold by misinforming.
We feel these mere "antique" façades on particle board are generally a poor reflection on the grace and beauty of the hand-made originals
(and probably destined for the landfill!). Our work, on the other hand, is instantly recognizable as real. Authentic in materials and construction, it is separated from the masterpieces that inspire it only by time. In fact, our work receives enthusiastic accolades from experts in period furniture representing museums, historic collections, and major auction houses throughout the Northeast.
A Passion For Well-Made Things
Lorren L. Hammond was born in 1968 and has been enchanted by old things and their mysteries for as long as he can remember. His need to know and create showed itself at a young age
with an avid interest in reading and dabbling in many different arts. The beauty of well made things and the subtle power of good design have both delighted him and challenged him to unlock their secrets. He has forged swords, made jewelry, written stories, designed and built houses, written and directed movies,
and engineered machinery. In 1995 he designed and made his first pieces of furniture (George III Walnut Side Tables). Within four years, he had been judged by Early American Homes magazine to be among the top 50 furniture-makers in the nation.
